Family Pictures

We went up to Midway (two weeks in a row) to try and get some family pictures done. The first Friday was really cloudy... not such great lighting... we got a few keepers, but we wanted more, so we tried the next Friday. We thought we had left in PLENTY of time to get there and still have great light, but since our spot was right near the mountain, the sun was already down - needless to say, we were a little disappointed, but we did get a few keepers again. I don't think we will attempt a third time, even though they say that the third time is the charm! Our kids have had it with pictures! Thought we'd share a little bit of what we got... we did some individual ones of the kids too, and I'll post them next time. I need to put one of them as our header at the top of our blog... leave a comment and tell me which one you think I should use!? (Great excuse to make you leave a comment :D )

Trip to the Park

Hayden is in preschool this year, but only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He gets a little bit lonely without Bryson on the other days. Most of the time we run errands together, or take walks around the block, or just hang out... yesterday we decided to go to the park. He was so funny. We went DOWN the slides together (sorry, no pictures of me to prove that, but I really do slide with my kids!), and he climbed UP the slides, too.

At one point he just decided to lay down. I asked him if he was tired, and he said yes, but when I asked him if he wanted to go home and have a nap he said "no way!" We were the only ones at the park, which made it even more fun. After sliding for a while, and digging in the wood chips, we went for a little walk. There are some woods around the park, and a little path. We saw lots of bugs, dying wildflowers, and even a pile of grass clippings that Hayden decided to toss in the air.

I really enjoy being able to have one-on-one time with Hayden. I will definitely miss it when he goes to Kindergarten. Atleast we still have a couple of years until then!

Family Hike

We have been trying to do a little family hike for a couple of weeks, but the weather just hasn't cooperated. This weekend we knew it would be nice, so Jared asked the girls to plan a hike. They were so cute... they even gave out flyers telling us what to wear, what to bring, and where we were going. We went to the soccer fields at Art Dye park (where the kids play soccer) and there is a little forest with lots of trees and paths. We headed up a trail through the trees and ended up heading toward the Adventure and Learning Park (I don't think it's called that anymore, but that's what I know it as) and we could see Lone Peak High School in the distance. We went that way for a little bit, then turned around and headed back home. The kids had a great time. The boys had fun finding "walking sticks" and throwing rocks, and the girls had fun being the "leaders." We are hoping to do it again soon, and take a different trail.

Skatepark

Jana called the other day and asked me to take some pictures of Justice... he is into Skateboarding, so we went to the skatepark. When we got there, it was all locked up. We called the city, and they sent someone to unlock it for us. The boys had a blast running all over the park and rolling down the hills on Justice's skateboard. They didn't want to leave once it was over. It was fun watching them play. It was great, since we were the only ones there! We want to take them back, and let them play longer next time. The only mistake was letting Hayden wear his new school shoes. They got a bit scuffed up! Oh well... next time we'll remember old shoes!

Oh, and since I mentioned taking Justice's pictures, I thought I better post a few of them. He looked like such a cool little skater! Watch out Ryan Sheckler!

Preschooler!

Hayden is growing up. I keep telling him to stop, and as much as he says "okay," he just keeps getting bigger and bigger. He started preschool on Tuesday. All day he kept asking "is it time yet?" He could hardly wait! He goes to "Let's Learn Preschool" which is run by a lady just down the street from us, and his teacher is Miss Kim. He has his cousin Justice in his class, and has some other good friends there. He loved his first day and can't wait to go back!

He looked so cute and grown up. Time flies, huh?

We love Hayden and we are so proud of him. Wish he'd slow down this "growing up" thing just a bit, though!

A Taste of Fall...

We had quite the storm roll in on Sunday. The kids bundled up and headed outside to enjoy the "autumn-like" weather. It was really blowing, and the kids thought it was fun to be outside in it! Eryn saw the sky, and wanted the camera - I handed her one of the cameras, and let her take some pictures. She took these first four. She'd like a camera (a REAL camera). Maybe for Christmas, which doesn't seem that far away when we have weather like this. Feels like fall is on the way!

Then she brought the camera back in to me, and I took a couple through the window! You can see how windy it was getting. It got even windier later. It really blew! It kinda destroyed some of my plants outside (good thing they are done blooming and everything). Then it rained, and rained, and rained... and rained some more - all night! We got to hear a little thunder (which I love!) And hey - I don't have to water the grass for a few days!

Monday we were supposed to go swimming... then we heard it would be a bit cool, so we had changed our plans to include a little hike and picnic... but the rain cancelled that out, so we ended up renting a movie and playing games instead, in the comfort of our warm house.
