Summer Fun

The kids had a great time the other day playing outside in the "pool." It has finally gotten HOT here in good old Utah. I think we've filled the little pool almost everyday this last week. The boys have a great time. One of the girls (we won't name names) thinks she is too big for that pool anymore. She is growing too fast, I must admit. The other girly LOVES it as much as the boys! We are trying to enjoy the heat. I won't complain, because it's much better than freezing cold, in my opinion.

Girls Camp!

Well, I survived girls camp! We went last week up to Heber Valley Camp. It is so pretty up there. I did take my camera... I got a few pictures, but I kept forgetting to hand it over to someone else so I could be in some. We were there from Monday morning until Friday morning. It ended up being really fun... we have some great girls in our ward. I learned a lot from them while we were there. And I learned that I can do hard and scary things! We did a challenge course on Wednesday, and there was a high ropes activity 40 feet above the ground! I'm afraid of heights - really - and I did it. (I had to after I told one of my girls that I'd go as far as she did, and she went the whole way!) Here are a few pictures of some of the girls doing it... I know the girl I made the deal with took some pictures of me so I'd have proof that I did it too, but I haven't gotten them yet.







Of course we did all the other usual camp stuff - crazy songs/games, testimony meeting, snipe hunt... and we canoed on a little lake (didn't DARE take a camera on that one - I was afraid the girl I was with was going to tip us over!) It was fun and I'm glad I went, but I'm glad it's OVER!

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day! I've been so blessed in my life with "Fathers." First, my own Dad. He's the best! I appreciate the time he took to teach us to hunt, to come to all our performances, and to teach us how to live the way we should. We never doubted his love for us (even if we did something stupid!) He's an awesome Papa to my kids, too! I was also blessed to have an awesome Father-in-law... (who raised an amazing son.) He was always an example of unconditional love and kindness. We miss him. Jared has followed his Dad's example of love, and is such a great dad to our kids. I also have had wonderful Grandfathers who have been such great examples to me. What would we do without these awesome "Dads" in our lives!

Busy Week

Well, what a weird, crazy, busy week. First of all, what happened to Summer? Notice Hayden in his red hoodie sweatshirt... hello! It was so stinking cold for a couple of days! Nothing a good old Rice Krispie treat won't take care of though.





Bryson has been a busy kid this week... he had Pirate Camp! His preschool teacher does a little week-long day camp each summer - one week is for girls, the other is for boys. This year it's been Pirate Camp... they learned sword-play (with balloon swords), they learned about ships, and what pirates are like. They even got to meet Captain Jack Sparrow! He had a blast!






Poor Eryn - for the most part this week was okay, but on Wednesday, she and her friend rode their bikes to a nearby park (I can't believe she is old enough for me to let her just go...) and a little while later I got a phone call from her friend's cell phone and all I could hear was screaming! I couldn't understand a thing she said! Well, the boys and I hopped in the car and drove over to the park, where we found Eryn with her foot, shoe, and pants covered in blood. She had stepped on a nail which went through the sole of her tennis shoe and got her right under one of her toes. We got her home and cleaned up and found out that she was borderline for needing a tetanus shot... they suggested we do it, but our Dr. didn't have the right one for her, so Thursday morning we headed to the health dept. where she got a shot in the arm! Poor kid. She was brave and played softball that night, even though she had to limp around the bases!

And then there's Kaitlyn... she had a great week attending Girl Scout Day Camp. They made all kinds of cute crafts, sang songs, and learned all kinds of cool things. She had a great time.

As for us parents... Jared has been SICK SICK SICK... and I am finishing up last minute preparations for GIRLS CAMP! YIKES! Jared and the kids are all excited about having a whole week to hang out and have all kinds of adventures without me.

Favorite Ice Cream: Moose Tracks...mmmmm!!! First time I had it was in Virginia, and I've been in love ever since. Wish I could have it more often.

Favorite Childhood Memory: Wow... I have a lot. Christmas and Easter parties with the cousins and everyone. Always fun!

Favorite Color: Red! I guess I'm forever a CAVEMAN!

Love to Read?: Oh yeah. I wish I had more time. I have a big list of books I'd like to read - many recommended by my 10-yr-old!

Birthday: November 6th.

Heels or Flip-Flops: Hello! Flip flops - what fun are heels? (Except that they look pretty) I'm all for the comfort!

My Dream Car Would Be: A JEEP! Really! I always thought they were cute and fun. I'm with Jana, though - something that doesn't run on gas would be nice!

Top 3 Stores: Old Navy, Walmart, Target - sorry to copy you Jana, but these are the ones I shop at the most!

One Person I'd Like to Meet Who is Alive: Hmmm... that's a good one. I guess the prophet would be a good one!

How Many Kids Would You LOVE to Have... You Know If You Really Had to Say It: I've got them... all 4. That's how many I've always wanted. I'm good with 4. It's not as easy as I thought it would be, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Second Job (Not first or current): Olive Garden - my favorite place to work, since that is where I met my hubby! I'd never go back, though. Now I have the best job in the world!

Favorite Teacher: Mr. Turner - 4th grade. I loved him. Now when I see him, he is so old... it kinda makes me sad. I really did learn a lot, even though my mom might think I didn't!

Something People Would Be Shocked to Learn About Me: You all know everything about me already. Not much I'm hiding!

Tell Us How You Met Your Honey: Well, look at the answer above. We met while working at the Olive Garden - he was a cook/busser... I was a server. One date and I was hooked! That was 14 years ago - whoa!

Feeling "Blue"

Ha ha! Actually, the girls might have been a LITTLE blue about school ending, but we are looking forward to summer! On the last day of school, I picked up the girls and we went "downtown" to take some LAST DAY OF SCHOOL pictures by a cool blue wall I found. It was bright! We went across the street behind some old buildings for some cool brick wall pictures too. These two are growing up way too fast! Eryn just finished 4th grade, and Kaitlyn just finished 2nd. Next year we'll have 3 in school! Time sure does fly!
