I grew up hunting with my dad. It's his favorite thing in the world, and it's fun to be with him doing what he loves so much. He puts us in for the draws every year, and apparently I've been put in for antelope for quite some time. Well, this year I drew a tag. The downside? The fact that I would miss Hayden's first day of Kindergarten. That was a little bit hard, but Jared was home to take care of things, and I had a fun time with my dad.
We got up EARLY on that Wednesday morning (I'm talkin EARLY - 4 am early!) We headed up to the border of Wyoming and Utah to a place called Deseret Land and Livestock. We had to meet up with the "guys in charge" before we could head out to hunt. When we finally got going, we saw quite a big antelope not far from the road, but we thought we'd just keep looking. After driving for a little bit, we saw one that my dad thought looked like a really nice one, so we pulled over and watched him for a while. Once he made it over a little hill, we started walking. We walked quite a way, then stopped to see if we could find him. He had outsmarted us... he was now behind us! Dad had me take a shot, but it was a L O N G way off. Well, we kept hiking around (we saw eagles, a badger, and quite a few more antelope) but ended up heading back to the truck. I was hungry anyway!! Well, we had just barely started driving, when I spotted one right off the road. We pulled over, and my dad (after looking at it for several minutes with his binoculars and realizing that it was quite a nice antelope) told me to get out and shoot! Well, the rest is history...
