The kids came in to our room early on Sunday morning to tell us that the Easter Bunny had come. I really would like him to come on Friday night/Saturday morning so we can separate the Bunny from the REAL meaning of Easter, but somehow we forget to set out our baskets each year on Friday night. But... we were excited to see what he had left. Of course there was candy... way too much of it. Jared got his beloved PEEPS, and we all got a whole lot of chocolate :) Each of the kids got a book in their basket.
Kaitlyn got Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, B got Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Hayds got a new Thomas the Tank Engine book, and Eryn got Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief. They were all excited to have something new to read. After they checked out their baskets, we read the Easter Story from the New Testament. The kids were really good and enjoyed listening to what Easter really means. After that, I read part 2 of a story from the Friend magazine from 1983. I had remembered it from when my mom read it to us when it first came out. It's a 3 part story (we'd have to wait a whole month for the next part) and it's about a Nephite girl in America, and what happens during the time when the Savior died. It's called "A Time to Remember." Something about it really touched me as a child, and I have never forgotten it. I was so excited to find it on the church website and print it out. Our kids loved listening to it. We were going to read part 3 after breakfast, but it was time for Conference, so we finished it Monday night at Family Home Evening.

Between Conference sessions, we got to have "Sister Stafford" (Jared's sister Sarah) and her mission companion over for lunch. She had gotten special permission from her mission president. It was fun to see her and hear about her mission. She is really enjoying serving in American Fork, and we really enjoyed visiting with her while she was here!

Jen..........when did your hair get so long? WOW! Mine just seems to get shorter and shorter. If I could, I'd buzz mine right off. :) Looks like you guys had a great Easter. How fun that your kids all got books. I wish that I could have had Easter with my family on my mission. I did get the chance to go out to eat with Uncle Kent when he drover hours and hours to make a surprise visit. That was a special moment for me. I'm sure that Sarah enjoyed her lunch at your house.
